Closer to Home is an hour long documentary chronicling Barbara Kigozi’s journey to her childhood home in Uganda, where she returned for the first time in almost three decades.

Living under a dictatorship, Barbara’s parents tried to preserve a sense of normalcy until the bombs fell.  In the aftermath of the war to overthrow Idi Amin, the country was stripped of all its economic and social stability.

Closer to Home is Barbara’s story told in the first person, filled with her memories and discoveries as she makes the journey back in time to explore her relationship with Uganda and the culture, retracing her life she was forced to leave behind when she was a child.
