Wonder what everyone's doing online ...? About 80% of America's online population - about 158 million web users - were getting all bleary-eyed watching videos in July, according to data from comScore Video Metrix. In that one month, Americans watched 21.4 billion videos online, an average of 135 videos for ever viewer. Average online videos ran for 3.7 minutes, but the average online viewer watched 8.3 hours of video during July. Google sites racked up a record 8.9 billion videos viewed (that's 42% of all videos viewed online) with YouTube accounting for more than 99% of those viewings. Viacom Digital was a distant second with 812 million videos viewed, followed by Microsoft sites with 631 million. The average Hulu viewer watched 12 videos, totaling 1 hour and 13 minutes of videos per viewer. Maybe it's time to rethink "traditional" distribution?
